About Mike
I’m a Chicago-area musician and producer who’s written and released music for decades (Americana rock with Midwest roots). I play drums, piano, guitar, and bass, and I love helping players get unstuck—whether that’s clean chord changes, locked-in timing, or finally performing your favorite song start to finish.
My approach is simple: short focused lessons, clear weekly assignments, and progress you can hear. We’ll work from songs you actually enjoy, build technique the smart way, and keep your momentum with light gamification (points, streaks, and fun rewards).

Guitar
- Modern chord flow (I–V–vi–IV, etc.) + clean transitions
- Strum patterns & rhythm feel (metronome + play-along)
- Signature riffs + 1 full song each 4–6 weeks
- Optional: soloing basics & tone shaping
Piano
- Lead-sheet reading & chord inversions
- Left-hand patterns (ballad, pop, blues, arpeggios)
- 12-bar blues & comping for singers
- “Showpiece” tune each term
Bass
- Groove vault: 8-bar patterns in multiple feels
- Time, muting, articulation, note choice
- Nashville Numbers & transcribing a bass line each term
- Locking with drums + recording practice

Membership includes one weekly 30-minute lesson (average 4 per month).

Rescheduling: up to 48 hours in advance into an open slot the same week.
Late cancel (<24h): no individual makeup—join the Group Makeup Lab.
Skip Bank: 1 no-questions skip per 12-week term.

- Yes—many students rotate guitar/piano/bass across terms.
- How do makeups work?
- Reschedule 48h+ ahead into another slot the same week, or join the Monthly Group Makeup Lab.
